Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin revealed that Highland Towers is finally scheduled for demolition in as early as next month.
This comes as the Highland Towers Redevelopment Committee, after several meetings with the Insolvency Department and the developer, has finally arrived at a solution and identified all owners involved, reported The Star.
The demolition will be organised by the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ).
“The demolition will take place as soon as we clear all the technicalities involving the insolvency issues,” said Zuraida.
“We are hoping that by December, the committee will formulate plans for redevelopment at the site,” she added.
She also noted the need to revise the policies in place for abandoned projects in order that processes and procedures may be simplified and expedited.
Currently, a total of 82 abandoned projects can be found in Selangor, she said.
